Biography: 

Dr. SungJune Park serves as the Graduate Program Director (GPD) for the Data Science and Business Analytics (DSBA) program at UNC Charlotte’s School of Data Science, a position that plays a crucial role in maintaining the program’s excellence. In this capacity, Dr. Park oversees important aspects such as curricular revisions, program outcome evaluations, and admissions reviews. His primary responsibility involves coordinating activities for the strategic design and implementation of the graduate program’s curriculum. Reporting directly to the Executive Director of the School of Data Science, the GPD holds a key leadership position in the School of Data Science.

Dr. Park is a Professor of Management Information Systems at the Belk College of Business. Throughout his academic career, Dr. Park has taught a diverse range of courses in areas such as business analytics, data communications, information security, application development, e-business, and supply chain management. His extensive teaching experience has equipped him with a deep understanding of these subjects and an ability to effectively convey complex concepts to students. Dr. Park’s current research interests revolve around business analytics, information security, the digital economy, and supply chain management. He is dedicated to exploring these areas and furthering our comprehension of the emerging challenges they present. To accomplish this, he employs a multidisciplinary approach, utilizing mathematical, economic, and computational models alongside empirical research methodologies. Dr. Park’s research findings have been published in esteemed journals such as Computers & Operations Research, Data & Knowledge Engineering, Decision Sciences, Decision Support Systems, Information Systems Research, Information & Management, International Journal of Production Economics, International Journal of Production Research, Journal of Management Information Systems, and Omega.

Additionally, his work has been featured in refereed conference proceedings and edited books. By investigating the impact of information technology on organizational information management, knowledge utilization, and process optimization, Dr. Park contributes to the ongoing advancements in e-business, supply chain management, and information security. His research not only enhances our understanding of these fields but also provides valuable insights for organizations seeking continuous improvement and effective decision-making. Dr. Park earned his Ph.D. in Management Systems from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
