Biography:
Dr. Hee Cheol Chung is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Before joining UNC Charlotte, Dr. Chung served as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Statistics at Texas A&M University from 2020 to 2022. During his postdoctoral tenure, he honed his expertise in advanced statistical techniques, focusing on areas such as statistical machine learning, high-dimensional data analysis, anomaly detection, classification, graphical models, and small-area estimation. His research interests encompass cutting-edge areas of statistics, such as leveraging machine learning algorithms to make sense of complex datasets and detecting anomalies within them. Additionally, he is skilled in handling high-dimensional data and applying classification techniques to solve real-world problems effectively.
