Biography:

Biography: Dr. Song is a Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Her research focuses on Ecological, Phytochemical, and Agricultural Genomics. Her lab integrates multidisciplinary approaches (e.g., omics, molecular genetics, biochemistry, and evolution) and leverages the natural diversity of crop wild relatives to understand molecular basis and evolution of complex trait variation significant in agriculture, human health, and climate adaptation. As Principal Investigator, Dr. Song has secured over $4M in external funding from diverse agencies (e.g., NSF, NIGMS, NCCIH, NCBC). Her research has been published in top-tier journals in the field, such as Science, Natural
Communications, Current Opinions in Plant Biology, Genetics, Molecular Ecology, and Evolutionary Applications. She has served on grant review panels for NSF and USDA and as an associate editor for several journals. Dr. Song also served as an Interdisciplinary Plant Science Consortium member and the Soybean Genomics Strategic Plan Team.
